Matte or Dewy Foundation: Compare Finish and Shade
Matte and dewy describe the appearance of a foundation finish. They are not shade names, and neither label establishes how a particular formula will look on your skin. Compare an actual foundation with another foundation; a matte hair paste, pomade or makeup-storage product cannot stand in for either finish.
Separate finish from shade and coverage
